Snupin Santa recs, round 2 Cutting it close! But hopefully, I can squeeze in a few more before the reveal tonight. ( Recs, round 2 )And that's all for now, because I need to go finish up some work on the master list before posting it this evening. Don't forget to stop by the lupin_snape IRC chatroom at 8:00 EST (-5 GMT) for an official ship chat! I'll probably have more recs later; one of my fandom resolutions is to read and rec more in 2009. I created the asylum moviefics. If anyone on my flist has a fic (or vid or something fandom-related) written/created about a movie, you can definitely post it there. Any genre is welcomed, including RPF/RPS related to movie-verses. I need to go search through my fics to see what I can post there. |

So today, I thought I had the day from hell today: 1. Lost $30 metrocard 2. Got a shitty schedule 3. Worked for 10 hours in the federal building with no access to internet 4. I couldn't RP I got home and find out that LJ might close, except not. I'll be here until LJ is, but in case you want to find me elsewhere Titti at IJ, Titti at JF, Titti at CJ and Titti at Inksome. I also have a MySpace, Facebook, and Vox, oh and one of those Twitter thingise, but they have never been used. Finally you can put all of your links at The DirectoriumThen I thought about things that happen the world: 1. People are dying in Gaza 2. I've seen about 10 people detained by immigration today, including one of my clients, a woman with 2 US children and a husband, because she had tried to enter in the US back in 1997. 3. People are losing their jobs Suddenly my problems don't seem so bad !

Home sick... Leaving for the doc in a minute, but I just HAD to do this; what a scream! In 2009, the_con_cept resolves to... Lose ten mad libs by March. Give up spanking. Volunteer to spend time with vimes. Buy new democrats. Connect with my inner naruto. Overcome my secret fear of snarodies.
Buy new democrats! Lol! I'm not giving up spanking, though. ;D |

oh, not again... Another LJ-scare? :( I'm listening to the "Don't Panic" messages. And I can't really use any of the backup-tools being recommended. Old computer, dial-up Internet - can't cope with backing up over six years of LJ posts and 68,000 comments. So - crossing fingers for LJ to continue existing. Anyway, the Horcrux is mctabby at InsaneJournal. |

O_o This doesn't look good. The Russian Bear Slashes a Social NetworkBy Owen Thomas, 2:24 AM on Tue Jan 6 2009, 29,441 views The bubble in social networking has burst, decisively. LiveJournal, the San Francisco-based arm of Sup, a Russian Internet startup, has cut 12 of 28 U.S. employees — and offered them no severance, we're told. Color me amused So the Feast of the Winter Veil just ended in World of Warcraft, and I enjoyed it as usual. Winter Veil is second only to Hallow's End on my favorite holidays in Azeroth list, but I noticed something interesting this year. See, one of the special things about the holiday is that "Winter Revelers" pop up in the inns, and if you use the "kiss" emote to one of them, you can get things like mistletoe or a handful of snowflakes that you can use to interact with other players. Now, with most inns, there's a male and a female Winter Reveler of whatever race that controls the city/town/village where the inn is located. For example, there are human Revelers in Stormwind, orc Revelers in Orgrimmar, etc. All of the ones I saw consisted of a male and female pair. Except Silvermoon City, capitol city of the Blood Elves. In the inn near the main entrance (Silvermoon Inn? I can't remember the name off-hand), there were a pair of Winter Revelers. Both male. See? I know the one on the right looks like he has breasts, but no, it's a male Blood Elf with a buffed-up torso. Because Blood Elf males are very buff, as if they spend a lot of time at the gym. *cough* Having played a Blood Elf Death Knight since the new expansion came out, I find that vastly amusing in more ways than one, and I had to share, because I thought even the slashy-minded on my flist who don't play Warcraft would find it amusing as well. Suffice to say, my Death Knight gave out lots of kisses this year. ;) Current Mood: amused |

Happy Daft Day, asnowyowl! Recipient: asnowyowlTitle: Lily's Eyes Author: triceybabePairing: Snarry, Implied Harry/Wood Rating: NC-17 Warnings: AU, Chan (11), rimming, slightly dark, noncon. Prompt/Summary: From the very beginning Severus is pulled towards Harry. Author's Note: First time writing about Harry this young. Asnowyowl, the story turned a little darker than I thought it would be, but I hope you enjoy it nevertheless. (Not to be mistaken to the lovely lilyseyes.) fannishness, misc. Think I've just about recovered from Yuletide now - or, at least, emerged from the total brainsuck that starts when fandom nominations open and ends with replying to comments on reveal-post. That's it, until October '09.
2009. o.O (Still getting used to that new number.)
Spent a little time spring-cleaning at FF.net, as I usually do around January - fixing or updating whatever needs attention. Finally finished dealing with FF.net's decision to remove the PRE tag from their severely restricted list of permitted HTML; sometime in mid-2008? I wasn't paying attention, so I don't know if they actually warned authors about this (probably not). First I knew of it was when some puzzled reviews came in. My Seuss parodies and the old SS/HG parody had been up there for years in nice harmless Courier, just how I wanted them - until the PRE tag vanished and took all their line-breaks. *headdesk* I fixed the Seuss parodies in August, and dealt with PtQ in a Nutshell just now.
Finally finished watching season two of Rome. (Got the DVDs last year, but distraction struck two episodes from the end.) Antony/Cleopatra incredibly cheesy. Servilia wins. Octavian: casting excellent, characterization middling. Must take another look at those Vorenus/Pullo Yuletide fics.
Haven't even looked at HP seasonal fests yet. This week I'm having another go at finishing that Little Women het melodrama, so I've nudged my brain into Alcott mode. Wish me luck.
P.S. I don't give a skrewt who the new Doctor is. P.P.S. Only three days till Snape's birthday!

Snupin Santa recs, round 1 Now that the holidays and my birthday are over, and I've finished prepping lesson plans and syllabi for my spring courses, I feel like I can take a breather, sit back, and enjoy some of the highlights of this year's Snupin Santa Fest. On a non-reccish note, I have to say things ran so much more smoothly for me, thanks to my helpers, kopernik, real_life_rosy, and jedirita. I will never run a fest again without assistance! It wasn't a problem-free fest by any means; there were the usual glitches along the way, including some issues I've never had before, but not having to deal with everything by myself led to less stress and frustration. I could concentrate on my job and leave the rest in the elves' capable hands, which was very nice indeed. Suffice to say, if I'm still in fandom at the end of the year, there will be a Snupin Santa 2009, and I will definitely not run it alone! And now, on to the recs! Sacrilege - Authores of the Worthy Series Does somebody here have a clue what happened to Sacrilege, authoress of the 'Worthy' series? Her LJ ( sacrilege696) is blank, without any note why she's gone, and her website ' Tarnished' is gone too. I really hope she's well. I asked the same some days ago on snarryficfind, but I didn't get an answer other than requests for a copy of her fics. Maybe here is someone around who knows what happened to her. |

Sad and angry I just found out that one of my childhood friends was murdered two days ago. He and his older brother moved away when we were still just kids, but our families kept in touch. His brother was just in town this summer, visiting for a few days. I found out from my mom that the neighborhood association where he lived had turned off the streetlights and let go the guard who used to patrol the neighborhood at night because people were not paying their association dues. Since then, several cars have been broken into, and now this. They took his laptop and cell phone; he had nothing else. http://www.wbt.com/news/details.cfm?article_id=44925 Current Mood: sad |

I love floppy haired spoiled brats so damn much. Yes, I have a type. So. What have I been doing all weekend? Why, reading House/Chase fic obsessively, oh my God. I think I might be a bit addicted to it, and really, seriously, the dynamic just makes me *KEYBOARD SMASH* *KEYBOARD SMASH* *KEYBOARD SMASH*. I'm a bit starry-eyed in love. Cranky bastard/spoiled brat OTP 4eva! I am also amused by all the HP fen falling into Kyo Kara Maoh at once. HOORAY! Now go write me Yuuri/Wolfram, dammit, people. :D I'm also going to catch up on season three this week. Which terrifies me because if they officially screw up my OTP I might have to stab someone. This is seriously why I've put off watching it the past few months. Pure fear. It's a problem when you OTP in a fandom. :/ Oh well. If they do, I'll just ignore it. Much in the way I am cheerfully ignoring Chase/Cameron and House/Cuddy this season. Denial is a lovely place. DO NOT HURT MY WOLFRAM, KKM POWERS THAT BE. I will be very pouty. And sullen. And may say nasty things about you behind your back. Also, I am still in love with [Eleventh Doctor's name redacted]'s hair. You guys. It's floppy! And it stands it up! ALL AT ONCE. It's like, I don't know, HEAVEN. \0/\0/\0/\0/ Do you think I would be lucky enough for TPTB to make him a brat too? *looks hopeful* Because then my ickle, shallow, entirely-looks-based semi-crush would be sealed. I may have purchased two books this weekend on the practical side of the music business to assist me with finishing purely_ironic's (ridiculously) late Sweet Charity fic. H/D band AU, ahoy! I also may have a couple of ficlet ideas for House/Chase and Wolfram/Yuuri and Harry/Viktor floating around in my head, taking root. *cough* I think my week's writing break might be over. On with the 2008 ficcage! Um, but first I have to go finish reading this 28-chapter House/Chase fic that I have fallen in love with. \0/ Current Mood: sick |

Out Of Bounds progress report, and skater standings. I'm not going to finish all of Out Of Bounds today. Most of it. But not all of it. I have roughly six scenes (with ongoing expansions....) left to write. Vacation's over tomorrow, had family stuff last night. Came home exhausted and distracted (that's family for you). Got edits but no core writing done afterward. Looks like I'll be working on the last of Out Of Bounds through this coming week. For those who are curious... Happy Daft Day, rakina! Recipient: rakinaTitle: One for the birds, two for the wolves Artist: Nele ( fanficforensics) Rating: PG-13 for a tiny bit of gore Warning: Blood, but not Harry's or Snape's. A/N: Illustration for the opening scene of 'Into The Green'. The moment -the very incoherent and drawn-out moment, in this piece- when the flying you-know-what gets its talons into you-know-who, causing lots of flying blood and shocking our heroes. Hope you like it, Rakina! I discovered a fetish for Harry's big baggy Dudley shirts while drawing this. They're like drapery. Pull down the collar of a regular t-shirt and you see, well, collarbones. Pull down the collar of a Dudley t-shirt and there's nipples! Though not this time, I tried in the last panel but nipples didn't much help the dramatic atmosphere. Alas.
